Soulful, bluesey rock with a southern tinge.gritty vocals that represents Detroit Rock at it’s best.
When Motown songwriting legend, Barrett Strong (“I Heard it Through the Grapevine,” “War”) strolled into a Detroit area health food store and heard a powerful, soulful voice coming from the back of the store. The talented culprit was singer/songwriter Eliza (pronounced Ah-leeza) belting it out for the sheer joy of it. Impressed, Strong signed the young chanteuse to his independent label Blarritt Records. Before long, the two were collaborating.
Inspired by their creative union, Eliza released a disc “I’m Waiting” – a captivating collection of radio-friendly, sophisticated rock that draws equally from Motown and Detroit’s rock city roots. Cuts from the disc were spotlighted on a slew of Midwest commercial radio stations including The River (94.3 FM), The Planet (96.3), 89x (89.5 FM) and WDET (101.9 FM). Since its release “I’m Waiting” has sold over 4,000 copies and netted Eliza a stack of glowing press, leading to guest appearances on Fox 2 News, PBS’ “Backstage Pass” and the “Jenny Jones Show.”
