ONDA 92 Spain The best Blues + R&B of 2022 is “Badder to the Bone”
THANK YOU ONDA 92 for the Love from across the Atlantic all the way in Spain! Here is their translation of the favorites from ONDA! Best Modern Blues Albums of 2022
“During the past year many rock, blues, and rhythm & blues records were played. That’s why we couldn’t let this list of the best of the year go by without one of our favorite songs and albums, like the one by Larry McCray, simply complete and full of new variations on the old blues or like the one by the veteran Bonnie Raitt who continues to drive her guitar and her voice as if she were a young girl (which she is at heart). Nor is Delbert McClinton, a 20-year-old, whom we are grateful for for his terrific album of rock and roll, rhythm and blues and even country covers. The Sully Band was a novelty for us, from San Diego to Murcia, hopefully they repeat this 2023. And that those from Pittsburgh, Ghost Hounds, also repeat, with their energetic and vibrant rock blues. Duke Robillard is another of the masters with a great rhythm and blues album that was accompanied by friends like guitarist Sue Foley. And what about Edgar Winter‘s powerful album dedicated to his brother Johnny Winter, or the one by Tinsley Ellis, also a maestro in top form, or the lioness Sass Jordan with her Bitches Blues. And pay attention, the legend Buddy Guy, who has just started a new tour letting the guitar speak about him, also showed his know-how with the wah-wah pedal. Rory Block, a master of country blues, covered Koko Taylor among others and for the end we reserved three great novelties, Dave Thomas, Canadian of British origin, John Nemeth with his recovered harmonica and the voice of Eliza Neals, an aggressive blues woman eager for your ears.“
